PRIME Work Experience
The London office is an ongoing supporter of PRIME, an alliance of law firms and legal departments across the UK committed to broadening access to the legal profession by offering quality work experience in the industry. The PRIME initiative is aimed at supporting talented school-age students who come from less privileged backgrounds and who might not otherwise have the opportunity for such work experience.
In London, we offer a work experience programme to our PRIME students. Students spend 4 days at our office based in the heart of the City, where they will meet and interact with professionals from across all departments within the office – from trainees and recently-qualified associates to partners, accountants, business development and HR specialists. Our varied programme is designed to help students understand what a career in law involves, as well as provide an insight into the various other careers that are available within a legal environment.
When applying, candidates will be asked why they think they would benefit from participating in our programme and what skills they will bring to the placement. Applications will be reviewed in the same way we review all applications, so good communication, spelling and grammar are incredibly important.
In order to participate in our PRIME work experience programme, the following criteria are required:
- Be in Year 13 (England and Wales); S6 (Scotland); or Upper Sixth (Northern Ireland)
- Attend a non-fee paying school
- Be eligible for free school meals or be the first person in your immediate family to attend university
Our programme will be taking place from Monday 29 July– Thursday 1 August 2019. We have seven places available.
Applications can be made via our online application form which will be available on our website from 1 March 2019. The deadline for all applications is 31 May 2019.
Candidates who are successful at the application stage will be invited to attend a 30 minute interview in June/July at our London office.
Please note that travel expenses and a lunch allowance will be provided to the seven successful candidates.
