Philanthropic fundraising also forms a significant part of Weil’s CSR programme. In December 2015, the London office launched a two-year partnership with The Sick Children’s Trust. Our mission is to raise £100,000 and provide 3,571 nights of accommodation for families with a seriously ill child in hospital. The Sick Children’s Trust believes every family should be by their child’s bedside during treatment. They provide free, high-quality ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, to families with sick children in hospital in the UK. To raise funds, employees in the London office are taking part in events such as the Three Peaks Challenge, Skydive, Royal Parks Half Marathon, Color Run, Thames Path Challenge and the Weil Bake Off.
In addition to fundraising, the London office has provided pro bono legal, IT, HR and administrative support to build the capacity and infrastructure of the charity.
Three Peaks Challenge
In July 2016, a group of 31 courageous Weil London employees successfully conquered the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis (1344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1085m) – all in under 24 hours!
The team started the challenge at the base of Ben Nevis in Scotland at 3.30pm on Saturday 16 July. After hiking all the way to the peak, by 10pm they were back at the base. They then travelled throughout the night to the base of Scafell Pike in England, which they started climbing at 3.45am. After watching the sun rise from the top of the peak, the team descended and travelled to the base of their final peak: Snowdon in Wales, which they climbed and reached the summit by 3pm on Sunday 17 July… all in a day’s work!
Our team raised over £14,500 for The Sick Children’s Trust, our London Office Charity 2015/17 which provides home-from-home accommodation for families to stay close to their seriously ill child in hospital.
The Weil team included: Matt Akers, Lewis Blakey, Peter Boulle, James Brennan, Victoria Burton, Thea Crawshaw, Remy Chaugny, Hannah Cooper, Frankie Cowl, Adam Devlin, Emma Faulkner, Asanka Gamage, Imaan Gangi, Tim Goldfarb, Amanda Hayes, Mitchell Holmes, Delyth Hughes, Abgail Kalonga, Hayley Kenny, Kristine Kozicki, Michael Martinez, Evelyn O’Connor, Irek Poniewozik, Tomasz Rodzoch, James Sargent and Anisha Shah.
