Attending an insight day is a great way to meet our people and get a better understanding of who we are, what we do and our culture as a firm.

Insight days

During the day you will hear from our partners, associates and trainees about life at Weil. You will take part in a case study exercise, which will give you an insight into the work we do. The Early Careers team will also provide you with their application and interview top tips. To network in a more relaxed setting, you will enjoy lunch with current trainees, the perfect opportunity to ask questions about the firm and life at Weil.

Who can apply and academic requirements

You can apply for an insight day if you are a second-year student, penultimate-year student, finalist or graduate from any degree discipline.

We are looking to recruit candidates from all universities and degree disciplines. Our academic requirements are AAB at A-Level or equivalent and a 2:1 degree (obtained or predicted). We take into account mitigating circumstances and use Rare’s contextualised recruitment system enabling us to measure an individual’s performance against the average grades of their school. We review all application forms holistically, which means if you fall slightly short of our academic requirements but demonstrate great potential, you will still be considered.

Online application form

Complete a short online application form explaining why you would like to attend an insight day at Weil. All applications are screened blindly, meaning the Early Careers team member reading your application form will not know the university you are attending or have graduated from, helping to remove unconscious bias.

Insight day

During the day you will hear from our partners, associates and trainees about life at Weil. You will take part in a case study exercise and the Early Careers team will provide you with their application and interview top tips. You will also receive 1-2-1 feedback on your insight day application form helping you to improve future applications.

Support and adjustments

The Early Careers team is here to support you throughout the recruitment process and the insight day if offered a place. In confidence, we can discuss the individual support and adjustments you may need to help you perform at your best. A few examples of the support we can provide include, but are not limited to: providing the application form in a different format, providing presentation slides in advance, providing an interpreter or note taker on the day, scheduling regular rest breaks, booking a quiet room if required or printing copies of presentation slides. Ahead of the insight day, we will also arrange a confidential call with you to discuss what support and adjustments you may need throughout the day. We will work with you to enable you to perform at your best and get the most out of the insight day.

Frequently asked questions

When do applications open for the insight days? When is the application deadline? Are applications reviewed on a rolling basis?

Applications open on 18 September 2023 and the deadline is 6 November 2023. No, we review all applications after the deadline.

Am I eligible to apply for the insight days?

You can apply for an insight day if you are a second-year, penultimate-year student, finalist or graduate from any degree discipline. If you do not meet these requirements, please consider applying for our fast track scheme.

If I attend an insight day will my travel expenses be reimbursed?

Yes, we will reimburse your travel expenses. If required due to financial circumstances the Early Careers team can book train/bus tickets on behalf of attendees. Please contact the team at early.careers@weil.com or on 0207 903 1000 to discuss, in confidence, your individual circumstances.

Do you accept CV applications?

No, we do not accept CV applications. If you are unable to complete the online application form, please contact the Early Careers team at early.careers@weil.com or on 0207 903 1000 to discuss, in confidence, your individual circumstances.

I’ve missed the deadline to apply for the insight days – can I still apply?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications received after the deadline.

What do I do if I am unsuccessful during the application process? Can I reapply next year?

If you are unsuccessful during the application process, we encourage you to wait a year before reapplying and spend time improving your application.

Is it possible to receive feedback if my online application is unsuccessful?

We appreciate your eagerness to receive feedback, however, we receive a high number of applications each year. In fairness to all candidates, we are unable to provide individual feedback at the application stage.
