You’ll attend talks, workshops and social events to build your network and knowledge of Weil. Throughout the two weeks, you’ll be assessed for a training contract on activities including: a group negotiation exercise, a group client pitch presentation, and real trainee tasks allocated to you by your supervisor.
You will be guaranteed an interview for a training contract, which will take place during the second week of the scheme. All places at Weil are competitive but the scheme is your opportunity to show us why you’re ready to take your seat and join us at the highest level.
Participants are paid £750 per week, half of which can be paid in advance two weeks before you join, helping you to book accommodation, travel tickets or buy work clothes.
What’s a Vacation Scheme really like?
Hear about our vacation scheme from the people who’ve done it. Discover why our trainees were interested in applying and why they’re glad they decided to.
You can apply for a vacation scheme if you are a penultimate-year law student, or a finalist or graduate from any degree discipline. We accept and encourage applications from all universities.
Our academic requirements are a minimum AAB at A-level or equivalent and a 2:1 degree (obtained or predicted). We take into account mitigating circumstances and use Rare’s contextualised recruitment system to measure a candidate’s performance against the average grades of their school. We review all application forms holistically, which means if you fall slightly short of our academic requirements but demonstrate great potential, you will still be considered.

Online application form
Complete a short online application form, telling us your academic background. Once submitted, the Early Careers team will review this to ensure you meet our eligibility criteria, you will be invited to complete a situational judgment test. We want to get to know the real you - your strengths, your thinking, and how you approach challenges. That’s why we use an online assessment made up of scenario-based, numerical, and verbal questions, aligned with our assessment competencies. It’s designed to highlight your potential, not your experience, and shows us those candidates who can bring intellect, creativity, and fresh ideas to real-world situations.
You won’t need any prior legal knowledge or experience to complete it. The assessment is untimed, but we recommend it should take around 45 minutes to complete.

Pre-recorded video interview
Following the situational judgement test, you will go straight into completing a pre-recorded video interview, where you will need to answer 4 questions. These will focus on your motivations for a career in commercial law at Weil, as well as your strengths and ambitions.
This is our first opportunity to get to know you, so bring your personality and experiences to your answer. Your interview is unique to you, and it offers us an insight into your achievements and experience to date. During the interview, you will have 2 minutes to prepare each question, and 2 minutes to deliver your answer.
Consider how you can make your application stand out. You should highlight your work experience, the skills you’ve learned and how they apply to the role of a trainee. Successful applicants also tell us why they’re interested in pursuing a career with us and demonstrate they have the determination it takes to grasp this opportunity.
