We move forward with the world.

Our approach to Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) focuses not just on advising our clients on their most important ESG obligations, but first and foremost on our responsibilities as an organisation. We have six ESG pillars that are integral to how we define our business: Pro Bono, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Community, Wellness & Social, Climate Action and Governance. Each area is championed by two partners and a committee of employees. Trainees are encouraged to get involved in all aspects.

Pro Bono

We support those who need it most.

Our Pro Bono Committee is dedicated to giving legal advice where it matters most. All our lawyers are expected to perform 50 hours of pro bono service per year, and we work with a number of law centres, leading charities, NGOs and social enterprises, with a focus on access to justice and social finance. One of our proudest achievements was working with Refuge to table a number of amendments in the UK Government’s Domestic Abuse Act, which was enshrined in law in 2021.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

DEI is our DNA.

Equality for all has been at our core since the firm was founded. We honour this commitment through action, creating a culture where our differences are respected, celebrated and valued. We are a workplace of equal opportunity; a workplace in which every member of our firm can bring their whole self to work.

Celebrating diversity.

We have a number of networking groups and formal initiatives that are designed to bring people together for support and learning. These are BLAST (Black Lawyers Achieving Success Together), Women@Weil, WeilPride, Social Mobility@Weil, Disability Inclusion, Multicultural Action Group@Weil, and Religion@Weil. Our employee networks help us to create and nurture a better understanding of the unique issues facing communities and are an integral contributor to the success of our firm and its people.

Mentoring

Accelerating your growth.

We offer valuable support and guidance to everyone at Weil. For trainees, our mentoring programme makes sure you get all the advice and support you need from a partner mentor. And everyone has the chance to self-select another mentor. They’re there to provide professional guidance on every area of your progression and act as a sounding board for the range of important decisions you’ll make that define your trajectory.
